What is First Directory?

First Directory is our selection of services and benefits helping to give you some peace of mind wherever you are in the world. It includes Worldwide Travel Insurance, Roadside Breakdown Assistance, Mobile Phone Insurance, ID Theft Assistance and a stack of leisure benefits.

Could save you over £320 in the first year

First Directory is £9 per month for six months for new customers, reverting to our standard monthly charge (currently £12). That's £454 worth of benefits for just £126 in the first year – meaning you could save over £320 in the first year. Your minimum initial subscription will last 12 months, but you can renew monthly after that.

Worldwide Travel Insurance with Aviva

Our Worldwide Travel Insurance, provided by Aviva Insurance Limited, includes winter sports cover and covers you and your family (for eligible customers aged under 70). It includes cover if you have to cancel your trip or if you’re forced to remain abroad due to the closure of airspace for more than 24 hours or if an airport or port you are travelling from (or through) is closed for the same period.

The maximum time you can spend outside the UK, Channel Islands and Isle of Man in any consecutive 12 month period is 183 days.

We will provide winter sports cover for up to 21 days in any consecutive 12 month period.

Holidays in the UK, Channel Islands and Isle of Man will only be covered if they include two or more consecutive nights stay in pre-booked holiday accommodation.

We will not cover claims arising from paid or unpaid manual work or physical labour of any kind or business travel involving any dealings with members of the public.

We will not cover claims for death, injury, illness or disability are not covered if they result from you being under the influence or effect of alcohol or drugs.

Pre-existing medical conditions are not covered at any time under this policy unless they have been disclosed to and accepted by our medical assessment team.

All claims will be subject to assessment and other usual policy Terms and Conditions.
Roadside Breakdown Cover with AGA International SA

This 24 hour service helps give you peace of mind on the road, covering you whether you are a driver or a passenger of any eligible vehicle. You will be covered for emergency roadside repairs, occurring at least a quarter of a mile away from your home and local recovery to the nearest suitable garage. In addition we will provide national recovery of the vehicle to any UK destination, if we are unable to arrange a prompt local repair.

We will not cover:
The cost of labour and/or parts at any garage to which the vehicle is taken.
Claims where your vehicle is being used for commercial or business purposes or is a motorcycle.
Breakdown less than a quarter mile from your home address.
Missing or broken keys. We will try and arrange the services of a locksmith but you will need to pay for the work carried out.
Replacing tyres or windows.

Roadside Breakdown Assistance is underwritten by AGA International SA and administered in the UK by Mondial Assistance (UK) Limited. Policy Terms and Conditions apply.
Mobile Phone Insurance with Allianz Insurance

Losing or having your mobile phone stolen can be expensive. Fortunately, First Directory's Mobile Phone Insurance covers up to the value of £300 for loss or theft. Mobile Phone Insurance is provided by Allianz Insurance plc, and policy Terms and Conditions apply.

Commission free travel money and fee-free ATM transactions abroad

Although online travel money and travellers cheque orders are already commission free for all customers, we'll waive the 2% (minimum £3) fee for telephone orders as well. First Directory members also enjoy cash withdrawals from machines abroad free of first direct ATM transaction fees, usually 2%, minimum £1.75, maximum £5.00 (on the account the First Directory fee debits from). However, some ATM operators may charge you for making withdrawals from their machines, and a foreign exchange charge of 2.75% will still apply to any transaction you make abroad.

First Directory also includes some great leisure benefits, such as exclusive offers with great savings at restaurants, hotels and days out - which you'll find on an exclusive First Directory site. We also offer banking benefits with exclusive member offers and discounts.

2 The Mobile phone Insurance is provided by Allianz Insurance plc. Price based on the annual retail cost of mobile phone cover with a similar cover limit. Price correct as at February 2012.

5 Commission free travel money example is based on 1 order of £500 per year, usually paid at 2% of total amount.

There is an exchange rate adjustment of 2.75% applied to currency conversion rates. Some cash machine operators may apply a direct charge for withdrawals from their cash machines.
